Adorable Cat Loves to Stick His Tongue Out, Cheers People in Quarantine

With so many people stuck in quarantine, a lot have taken just finding cute, adorable, or funny stuff on the internet to keep their minds off the COVID-19 pandemic.

An exotic shorthair cat who lives in Yorkshire, England, recently went viral for the adorable way it sticks his tongue out. It makes him look like he’s always up to something and joking around with people!

Ikiru lives with his humans, Rich and Emma. The couple was looking for a cat and quickly fell in love with Ikiru after seeing his pictures from a breeder’s website. The adorable cat is actually quite normal but because of his breed, he appears to have a shorter face that emphasizes his tongue. This actually works to his advantage.

Ikiru is really healthy and our vet told us he has some of the best teeth she has ever seen,” the couple explained.

Exotic shorthairs have a slightly pudgy face but he’s very energetic and in great shape. Believe it or not, he doesn’t always have his tongue hanging out, but it seems to be a quirk of his, leading to some amusing facial expressions.

This cute little habit of his has propelled Ikiru to stardom after his human parents opened a social media account dedicated to his adorable photos. So far, he has gained over 120k followers! That’s quite a lot – much more than many people have, that’s for sure.

He’s loving, affectionate, and grumpy in the best way. Ikiru is also playful and endlessly amusing. One particular quirk is he loves tunneling and hiding underneath things like blankets or sheets of paper, or staring at you upside down from the corner of a room,” they explained.

The couple added that the cat was named after “Ikiru”, a 1952 Japanese drama. The name means “living” or “to live” in Japanese. For them, Ikiru is such a big inspiration and adds fun to their lives.
