Most people who want to adopt a pet go to the rescue center or pet shop to pick one, but one cat in Mexico got adopted in a unique way after presenting itself to a would-be owner, taking her to the store for some food! Clever cat, huh?
Primary school teacher Tania Lizbeth Santos Coy Tova, 33, often sees a white cat near some shops at her hometown but she always thought the kitty belonged to the owner of a nearby pet store. The cat has developed the habit of asking for food from passersby by following them around.

But the kitty’s life was soon going to change when Tania finally decided to see where the cat wanted to take her.
Tania and her companion had a good laugh over the cat’s antics as it tried to block them from walking past. It wanted them to follow. With plenty of time in their hands, the two decided to give in and simply followed the kitty.
It brought them to the pet store where it led them to the aisle where some cat food is put on display! Cheeky little cat!

“When we went to the store I always saw him out there, sometimes he would sneak along with people to enter. I thought he belonged to the managers, but one day when I and my companion entered, he chased us,” Tania explained.
“He got in between our steps as if we were ignoring him, then I paid attention to him and it was when he first guided me to the pet food rack. Then I understood that he wanted to eat.”
This would become a habit between the stray cat and an amused Tania.
“Every time he came to the store, we greeted each other and did the same, he guided me to the shelf and chose the food he wanted,” she explained.

But after seeing him with several injuries one day, Tania grew worried. She had grown fond of this clever kitty. So, she and her companion followed it home. They were surprised to see that it lived in an abandoned house. That’s when they decided to adopt the cat.
Tania said the cat appears happy to finally have a home. She named him ‘Rabbit’, saying the cat reminds her of one. Thanks to his clever antics, Rabbit the Cat has finally found a forever home – and got to pick his human!
